Cephalosporins
(Ceftriaxone/Rocephin/Ceftin/Suprex)
What is it?
This medication is used to treat bacterial infections.
Inform your provider if:
* You have ever had an allergic reaction to this medication in the past.
* If you are allergic to cephalosporins, penicillin, or penicillin-like medications.
* If you have kidney disease.
* If you have a disease of your intestines, such as colitis.
* If you are taking medications for a clotting disorder.
Use:
This medication can be taken orally (by mouth) or as an injection.
Side effects:
* Headache
* Dizziness
* Sweating
* Flushing
* Diarrhea
* Pain, tenderness, or warmth at the site of injection
Notify your provider immediately if you experience:
* Rash
* Bloody, watery diarrhea
* Fever
* Stomach cramps
* Vaginal itching or discharge
* Stomach pain or bloating
* Nausea and vomiting
* Heartburn
* Chest pain
Things to remember with any medication:
* Keep medications away from children.
* Store medications in a cool, dark, dry environment.
* Throw away medicine that is outdated.
* Take medicine as prescribed.
