Wellbutrin (Bupropion)

What is it?

Wellbutrin is a medication used to treat depression. It can be used to treat other problems such as anxiety and to aid in smoking cessation.

Inform your provider if:

* You are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.
* If you have had an allergic reaction to this medication in the past.
* If you are taking any other medications.
* If you have a history of seizures.
* If you are taking other forms of bupropion, including Zyban.

Use:

* Your provider will start you on a low dose and will increase the dosage slowly.
* You may not see effects from this medication until 3-4 weeks after starting this medication.
* Do not stop taking this medication without discussing it with your provider.

Side effects:

* Dizziness
* Headache
* Insomnia
* Nausea

Precautions while taking this medication:

* If your symptoms do not get better or get worse, call the office.
* Notify the office if you develop suicidal feelings.

Things to remember with any medication:

* Keep medications away from children
* Store the medication in a cool, dark, dry environment
* Throw away outdated medications
* Take medications as prescribed
